OUR STORY
The company was created in 2004 by John Bermingham as a trade source for period European antiques and unique decor. In 2008, John introduced a line of hand-woven silk Ikat textiles imported from Uzbekistan and the line quickly grew to over 100 patterns and colors.
In addition to the fabrics, Bermingham & Co. offers related products like custom made Ikat pillows, lampshades and upholstered goods.
Seeing a trend away from "bricks and mortar", the company closed their trade showroom in 2017 and have focused on offering their antiques and services via the internet through partners such as 1stDibs, InCollect and their own website. They recently expanded their services to include custom upholstery and antiques restoration.
Bermingham & Co. is based in Doylestown PA in the heart of Bucks County where it is operated from a 240 year old French Normandy-Style stone house and 10 acre farm.
John Bermingham has been in the Antiques business since age 16, when he got his start working with his father, a New York City antiques dealer. After receiving a BFA from New York University, John began a 15 year career at Pierre Deux Antiques where he worked closely with the founders Pierre LeVec and Pierre Moulin in every aspect of the business. In 2000, John opened his antiques and design shop in NYC; he currently oversees the antiques and restoration division of the company.
